Personal Focus: A game or contest divides the participants into two categories: winners and losers. From many perspectives, winning is the entire point of engaging in competition because of the wonderful sensation that accompanies victory. Losing can be both humiliating and frustrating, often bringing out the worst in people. There is an old adage, “it is not important whether you win or lose, but how you play the game that counts.” This wisdom is not always honored in our aggressive society, and an individual’s response to winning or losing can reveal a great deal about his or her moral and ethical makeup.

Cards and other games of chance rely on luck and highlight how you are handling what life may be currently dealing you. Anything involving mental activity is symbolic of your intellect, while physical contact implies a connection with your emotions and your bodily functions. Something violent, such as a wartime battle, might indicate a more intense inner conflict, where winning represents a high stakes victory for you.

Winning in a dream is either compensating for feeling beaten down by some area of life or celebrating an accomplishment. If choosing one interpretation over the other is not obvious by your current situation, examine the emotional content of the dream for clues.
